xBPP - the new name for BPP's
alumni association!
Issue 1 Autumn 2009
A warm welcome to the first xBPP Law e-newsletter. A strong relationship with former students plays a key role in the life of all today's educational institutions, and BPP is no different.
The e-newsletter will keep you up-to-date with the latest news both from BPP and from some of our notable alumni. We hope you also enjoy learning about some of the ways you can remain involved in the life of the Law School after your programme has finished, such as through our innovative Access to Practice scheme.
Please do get in touch with BPP's Alumni Executive Will Finch with comments and ideas for future issues. Over the coming months we are also looking to extend our range of services to xBPP members and put in place a programme of events and networking opportunities. We'd love to hear your thoughts.
Completing your programme here was just the first step - BPP is committed to providing you with support and opportunities as you progress in your career.

Dean, BPP Law School
xBPP's exciting new series of reunions and networking events began on Wednesday 15th July, when former students of the Leeds Law School gathered at the stylish Lazy Lounge bar in the central area of the city.
Around 75 alumni attended, with representatives from all four years of the school's classes. Many of the academic staff were also in attendance, much to the delight of the alumni.
"As Legal Affairs Correspondent of The Guardian, I think the more ways I can find of bringing law to people and making it accessible to them, the better. I want to help people understand how the law fits into their everyday lives."
"I really enjoyed the Pro Bono work I did during my GDL. I was part of a group that started the Prison Street Law Project with a student in our year who was a former prison warden in Pentonville Prison."
BPP Law School has always been about more than just lectures and seminars. One of a number of extra-curricular initiatives is Access to Practice, a mentoring scheme for current LPC and GDL students run by the Careers Service. The aim is to aid career development and to provide the student with a true insight of life in practice.
Last year's scheme was the fourth edition and proved the most successful so far. The scheme now runs out of all three BPP Law Schools, Leeds, London and Manchester, and over 450 students are matched up with practising solicitors across the country.
