SJ Berwin LLP trainees to study LPC exclusively at BPP

SJ Berwin announces that it has agreed with BPP Law School that all SJ Berwin’s future trainees will study the Legal Practice Course (‘LPC’) exclusively at BPP’s Law School in London from September 2008.

The process by which SJ Berwin reached the decision followed a survey of its current and future trainees to canvass their views on the advantages of studying together at one Law School. The firm has responded accordingly.

SJ Berwin believes that sending all its future trainees to BPP Law School will ensure that they receive a consistent and excellent level of training as well as allowing them to mix and network in class with trainees going to other City firms.

It will also allow SJ Berwin to have greater contact with its future trainees before they commence their training contracts. The firm will offer an additional training programme, designed to complement the LPC and put the practice areas studied on the LPC into context.  These will be delivered by the firm at its City offices. Social events are also planned.

Ann Collier, Head of Learning and Development, at SJ Berwin said, “We believe it is important to offer our future trainees a consistent and tailored programme designed to prepare students to excel in a leading European corporate and commercial law practice.”

Peter Crisp, Chief Executive of BPP Law School, said: “BPP is delighted at the prospect of working closely with SJ Berwin to produce trainees who are ready to embrace the rigours and challenges of a training contract and practice.  With our emphasis on business and finance, the LPC at BPP provides first-rate training to enable trainees and law firms to maintain their competitive edge and better meet the demands and needs of their clients.
