Admissions requirements

To apply for the GDL you must meet the following minimum admissions requirements:

  • minimum lower second class UK honours degree (or equivalent), or
  • overseas graduates with a Certificate of Academic Standing (COAS) from the Bar Council or Law Society, or
  • mature non-degree holders with suitable management experience

Priority is given to applicants who have placed BPP as their first choice.

Students from overseas whose first language is not English must demonstrate a sufficient command of English by holding an IELTS Level 6.5 qualification (or equivalent).

Mature non-degree holders

The SRA allow mature non-degree holding candidates to apply to complete the GDL with the desire of going onto complete the LPC.

The SRA state that all applicants must have:

  • considerable vocational experience at middle management level (minimum 10 years)
  • sufficient standard of education
  • good command of spoken and written English

How to apply

Full-time Part-time or distance learning

Applications for the full-time GDL starting in October 2010 must be made through the Central Applications Board (CAB).

You can apply for the full-time GDL starting September 2010 from the 2nd November 2009 via the CAB. Please click here to apply. The deadline of the first round is the 1st February 2010. Offers will be distributed on the 8th March 2010.
