How is the programme taught?
Each of the core modules are taught using a one-hour lecture and a one-hour tutorial per week.
Tutorials are delivered live in the classroom or online at a scheduled time - the choice is yours. Online tutorials are recorded allowing you to review them again at a later date.
Lectures are available in four formats: live, on DVD and as MP4 and MP3 files. This allows you to choose your preferred delivery format and review lectures at a time and in a place that suits you.
We deliver the best ratio of tutorials to lectures of any leading provider. Lectures offer you legal knowledge, but it's in tutorials that you'll learn how to put that knowledge into practice.
Extra support given at BPP
Our regular catch-up sessions give you the chance to revisit topics with tutors – so you can go over difficult areas, explore certain issues in more depth or gain practice on exam questions. This means that if there was something that you didn't understand one week you can go over it again or if you miss a tutorial for some reason you have a second chance to attend.
At our Leeds and Manchester law schools, we also offer fortnightly drop-in surgeries where you can clarify any issues you may have with your work on a particular module.
To help you monitor your progress and identify areas for improvement, your tutors will provide you with regular, detailed feedback on your work during the core teaching period. At the start of core teaching, you will have the chance to improve your written skills with our online legal writing workshop: after which, you can put your skills to the test with our weekly practice paper system, where you submit written work to your tutors and receive written comments.
For distance learning students, in addition to law school classes in London, we have support classes in Cambridge, Dublin, Liverpool and Newcastle.
All your learning materials are included in your fees.
To help you successfully make the transition from a non-law background our programme includes:
- a legal essay writing class
- a practice examination type essay
- development of examination skills in tutorials throughout the year
- study of real 'good' and 'bad' scripts by previous candidates
- mock examinations in each module
The programme is supported by BPP manuals provided for each module. These manuals (provided in both hard copy and on USB memory stick) contain a thorough guide to the relevant law and specific references for further reading.
