Undergraduate degrees

Since gaining degree-awarding powers in September 2007 BPP University College of Professional Studies now offers three undergraduate degrees in law:

We also offer the Graduate Certificate in Commercial Law which is taught at degree level.

LLB and LLB (Business Law)

On completion of the LLB or LLB (Business Law) you will be qualified to enter the vocational stage of training to be a solicitor (Legal Practice Course (LPC)) or barrister (Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC)). Law is also a respected degree subject to hold in many non-legal professions.

Studying the LLB or LLB (Business Law) may be the first experience you have of law, so our programmes provide a solid grounding in the subject while developing the skills you'll need later on for your career. These include:

  • essential legal research skills
  • identifying legal problems
  • ability to analyse cases and statutes
  • ability to research and construct legal arguments
  • written and oral presentational skills
  • understanding how law operates in practice
  • commercial awareness

Preparing you for practice

An LLB is an internationally recognised qualification and looks impressive on your CV. BPP's LLB is a general law degree and suitable for you regardless of the area of practice you wish to enter. Through the selection of relevant options, it is possible to theme the LLB so that you graduate with an LLB (Business Law), giving you a competitive advantage in the commercial legal employment market.

In addition, an undergraduate degree in law is well thought of by employers in many non-legal industries.

Materials

To ensure that you have the right materials upon which to base your studies and save you the considerable cost of purchasing expensive law books independently, within your fees, BPP will provide you with an extensive range of text, case and statute books appropriate for the modules you are studying.

Progression on to the professional programmes

After completing the LLB, intending solicitors study the LPC and intending barristers the BPTC (both of which are offered at BPP Law School on a full and part-time basis).
