LLB and LLB in Business Law

Students in a seminarThe LLB and LLB in Business Law are academically rigorous and qualifying undergraduate degrees in law. They are designed to enable you to enter the vocational stage of training to be a solicitor or barrister directly, the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Bar Vocational Course (BVC) respectively, or pursue another career requiring an undergraduate degree.

Studying the LLB or LLB in Business Law may be the first experience you have of law, so our programme provides a solid grounding in substantive law while developing the skills required on the professional programmes, later in practice and in alternative professional careers. These include:

  • essential legal research skills
  • identifying legal problems
  • ability to analyse cases and statutes
  • ability to research and construct legal arguments
  • written and oral presentational skills
  • understanding how law operates in practice
  • commercial awareness

Preparing you for practice

An LLB is an internationally recognised qualification and looks impressive on your CV. BPP's LLB is a general law degree and suitable for you regardless of the area of practice you wish to enter. Through the selection of relevant options, it is possible to theme the LLB so that you graduate with an LLB in Business Law, giving you a competitive advantage in the commercial legal employment market.

In addition, an undergraduate degree in law is well thought of by employers in many non-legal industries.

Materials

To ensure that you have the right materials upon which to base your studies and save you the considerable cost of purchasing expensive law books independently, within your fees, BPP will provide you with an extensive range of text, case and statute books appropriate for the modules you are studying.

Progression on to the professional programmes

After completing the LLB, intending solicitors study the LPC and intending barristers the BVC (both of which are offered at BPP Law School on a full and part-time basis).
