- a lower second class honours degree or above (or equivalent) in a non-law subject from a UK or recognised overseas university and a pass in the GDL or CPE
Admissions requirements for the LLM in Professional Legal Practice:
BPP LPC and BVC graduates
Any student from LPC and BVC full-time cohorts 2005/06 onwards and part-time cohorts 2005/07 onwards who has passed the LPC/BVC can undertake the LLM in Professional Legal Practice. We normally expect that you will complete the LLM in Professional Legal Practice within three years of completing your LPC or BVC.
Currently enrolled on the LPC and BVC at BPP Law School
- you are either a current full-time or part-time year 2 student; and
- you must have completed studying the compulsory stage of your programme; and
- you must have passed all your assessments for which results are available
This means that part-time year 1 students are ineligible to start the practice-based assignments part of the programme.
What happens if I subsequently fail a LPC or BVC assessment?
If you fail one or more LPC or BVC assessments you may not continue to study for the LLM in Professional Legal Practice, including the submission of any assessed work. You have a choice of either:
- requesting a suspension of your LLM in Professional Legal Practice studies until you have passed the LPC or BVC; or
- withdrawing from the LLM in Professional Legal Practice with your LLM in Professional Legal Practice fees returned in full
All students who withdraw will be required to complete the Preparation and Planning module on any re-registration after passing LPC or BVC
I have outstanding re-assessments. What can I do?
You may conditionally enroll for the programme and take the Preparation and Planning module. However, you normally cannot submit your proposals or start work on the practice-based assignments.
Normally, once you have taken your resits and are waiting for your results you may submit proposals for practice-based assignments in accordance with the schedule of key dates.
Students from overseas whose first language is not English must demonstrate a sufficient command of English by holding a minimum overall IELTS score of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each band of assessment (or equivalent).
