Legal Practice Course (LPC)

LPC students with their tutorThe LPC is the vocational training programme for those intending to practise as solicitors. At BPP, we view the LPC as more than just a qualification. It is the start of your career as a solicitor. It is vital for you to choose the right provider who can support you throughout your studies and develop the key skills you will need to be an effective practitioner.

Preparing you for practice

It is now widely recognised that lawyers must have more than just legal knowledge to be successful. Commercial awareness and high standards of service differentiate one firm from another. Employers expect you to identify this at an early stage by having the necessary skills to work with clients and understand their business needs.

To reflect the growing role of lawyers as business advisers, BPP has designed an 'MBA-style' LPC in conjunction with leading law firms and BPP's Business School. The programme includes the following features:

  • lectures for compulsory modules available in three formats - live in the lecture theatre, as audio files for download onto your MP3 player and as audio-visual MP4 files - giving you the freedom to study when convenient for you and to access the recordings for revision purposes
  • opportunity to upgrade your LPC, which is taught at master's level, to an LLM (Professional Legal Practice) (Master's in Law)
  • opportunity to gain clinical legal experience through our award-winning pro bono centre
  • networking with like-minded students heading for life as trainees in a wide variety of firms


For me, BPP was the ideal choice of LPC provider. I chose to study at the law school in Leeds because of its city centre location and fantastic links with law firms in both the local area and further afield.
