One-to-one support

We offer you one-to-one specialist careers expertise before, during and after your programme finishes. This can be in the form of a face-to-face appointment with one of our specialist careers consultants or careers tutors, a 'drop-in' session, a telephone discussion or email advice.
All of this is operated within flexible opening hours to ensure our part-time students can also receive maximum benefit from the services available. Our experienced careers team can offer invaluable assistance with:
- Applications for placements in law firms, barristers' chambers, companies or the not-for-profit sector
- Application checks
- Researching firms and chambers
- Deciding if you want to become a solicitor or barrister
- CV's and covering letters
- Interview and assessment centre advice
- Mock-interviews
- Alternative career advice
You will leave advice sessions with a careers action plan detailing the steps you should take to achieve your goals.
BPP's Buddy Scheme
BPP's 'Buddy Scheme' offers guidance and support from students with training contracts. If you have an interview coming up, contact the careers service to see if we have a suitable buddy who you will then be able to contact for interview advice. The buddy will be a current or former student with a training contract or pupillage already secured at the firm or chambers where you have your interview.
Mock-interviews
We provide a thorough mock-interview service before, during and on completion of your programme and when you have a training contract or pupillage interview coming up. We will ask you questions that we think are likely to come up in a 'real' interview and then give you constructive feedback on your answers and interview technique.
"The Careers Service is excellent and accessible. From mock-interviews, one-to-one sessions, email CV checks and email advice; you name it, the service has it."
